Pros: Good for sending home food with the in-law...
Cons: Oh my gawd that lid ...as horrible to get on as certain Tupperware! BLEAH!
The Bottom Line: I conclude that the set is an acceptable disposable option for busy families or those who send leftovers with infrequent visitors.

Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids
I like them, but recommending them for purchase is conditional. The Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids are a disposable option for toting home prepared meals to work or sending left overs with others.
In my Solo To Go package I received Five Plates and Lids with an approximate overall measurement of 9 by 10 and a eating surface of approximately 7 by 1.5 deep. The manufacturer states that these disposable plates are intended for one use each. Instructions on the packaging state that these are not dishwasher safe, nor should they be cleaned in the dishwasher. Thankfully the plates and lids are microwave safe (remember to loosen the lid for venting purposes). The manufacturer states that these disposables are intended for four minutes total microwave time and the consumer is told to be cautious when the contents are hot.
I appreciate the fact that use of these dishes means no worries about getting your dishes back. You see it is inevitable that Mom-In-Law takes a heaping dish of food home with her, yet forgets to return the to-go plate. Because her visits arent frequent, I dont really fault her for this oversight, and because she is single, I really do like sending left overs with her.
An additional use for our family unit presents itself when we prepare dishes with tomato sauce content, and we want to transport a serving to our youngest, who should just have a bed at the dance studio. On one of my daughters powerhouse nights I transported spaghetti dinner to her in a Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plate and Lid. The plate easily held a generous portion and the lid snapped on tight. The packaging states that these are leak proof; at least with regard to spaghetti dinner they are. Around a corner I drove, off the seat the dish went, yet contents stayed in the dish. Whereas certain washable dishware might stain when dishes with tomato sauce are placed into them, these disposable dishes are intended to be tossed, so who cares! Add to this the convenience of not having to bring the dirty dishes home, well, this is another reason why I actually like this set (not love, but yes- like). I loathe receiving dirty dishes back, say, a week later, complete with fuzz on the unidentifiable contents.
After using the five plates and lids included in my initial set, I conclude that the set is an acceptable disposable option for busy families or those who send leftovers with infrequent visitors. Additionally I appreciate that the dishes appear to be leak proof. I dislike how difficult the lids initially were to put on, but I am appreciative that they went on okay when the disposable plate was near full. There definitely is a knack to putting the lid on. Read the directions and give it a try when the plate has contents. Overall this set is in my view- average. Whether or not a set such as this is necessary, depends on each family unit. For our busy on-the-go family unit, sets such as this make life happenstance a little easier.
I received this product from SCC Grossman in exchange for stating my opinion on epinions.com.
