| ebking2's Full Review: Sony CCD-TRV138 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder |
I have never written a review for anything, but I am very upset with Sony right now. I am trying to make myself feel better! I am on my second Sony video camera. My first Sony video camera worked fine for 3 years and then I couldn't get the door to open to remove the tape. A relative found that if you only opened the door a little and pushed the button that the tape could be removed. There was a short in the wire. The thought of not being able to remove a tape or even destroying a tape of my two little guys scared me to death, so I bought a new Sony. I bought the CCD-TRV138. It lasted 1 year and then stopped recording. It would say "Reinsert cassette". Re-inserting the cassette never worked. After missing Easter and two birthday parties, I called Sony. They had me try new tapes, old tapes, borrowed tapes, and blue tapes. After it finally dawned on them that the problem was their camera, they had me send it to one of their repair shops. I had to pay the shipping (around $12) and $150 to have it repaired. They returned it to me 2 weeks later. It worked for one month and now it says "reinsert cassette"!!! After missing, numerous baseball games and family events, I called Sony again. They insisted that I try a new tape. Are they really that dumb?? I am not spending another dime on this crappy camera! They just kept telling me that they "replaced the entire mechanism"!! I don't care if they replaced the entire camera...it doesn't work!!! Now I am on Epinions.com searching for a NEW BRAND of camera!! Like I have $250 $12 $150 to throw around before I go spend money on a new camera! Thank you for reading. F.Y.I. Sony does not offer a VHS cassette (that I have found) to put the little cassettes into. You must hook up the camera to watch your videos.
