I was in desperate need of a new portable CD player, because my use for my old one had changed. I had a discman from about 6 or 7 years ago, which was fine for sitting in a car or flying in a plane, but with my new school came plenty of bumpy bus rides and lots of walking. The old discman just couldn't handle it, and skipped a lot.
I went to Best Buy and found this one for about 70 dollars. The discman works great for what I bought it for. The ESP2 stops the unit from most skipping, although lots of jarring will obviously make it skip a little. The batteries last forever, well many hours. I would say I listen for about an hour a day, and I have had a pair of AA's last me 3 weeks.
One thing I would recommend though is buying a different set of headphones, as the ones that are included broke very quickly from being stored in my bag. Another annoyance is the loud beep that you hear when you skip around on the CD. This is especially annoying if you use the CD player with your car stereo.
