Pros: Good feature set, compact size
Cons: Stiff keys, low maximum volume
The Bottom Line: A solid performer in every day use. I would definitely buy another Ericsson phone.

I got this digital-only GSM phone in a bundle from Fido (the GSM service provider in Canada). I wasn't sure I'd like it because it looked a little different from my Nokia analog phone, but I do. It has a very complete and well-thought-out feature set and user interface, and it has proven very rugged and reliable. I thought the small screen might be a drawback for SMS text messaging, but it seems to work just fine in practice. Battery life with the standard compact NiMH battery is fine, less than spec (so what else is new?), but good for a couple of days of normal use.
Minor criticisms:
- The maximum volume is a bit low in noisy environments
- The keys require slow and deliberate pressing because they are a bit stiff
- No quick way to switch between "quiet" mode and "normal" mode without going through the menus
- Weird proprietary connectors for external power, hands-free earpiece/mike, and data link - undoubtedly designed to keep accessory prices high
[Update: I've had it 18 months now, and I still like it. There's not a scratch on it and it's never given any problems in spite of rough treatment. And I continue to be impressed by the usability of the interface. Same criticisms as above still apply though.]
