griswolm's Full Review: Sony ICF-CD873 Clock Radio
I got this as a store return. Slightly marked and no original box or manual, but over 50% off (cost me $74). The sound is good, the talking feature is nice. My problem is that I didn't get a manual and the backlight is very bright. If there is a way to turn it off, I have yet to find it. If you plan to sleep in the same room with it make sure you can sleep with bright light or find out if the backlight can be turned off. There is something in the radio that vibrates to heavy basss hits, so I have to turn the bass or volumne down (didn't expect that on such a small radio).
Other than that, a great little radio for bedside. I considered the Bose Wave radio and the Cambridge Soundworks equvilent, but the $ was too much. In the $100 range sound was lacking in other CD/radios, but this was reasonable. For full price it might have more competion, I don't know.
The dual alrams are not as expected, but acceptable to me. Alarm 1 is only CD (but you can pick the track). Alarm 2 is Radio or sound (Buzzer, stream, or birds).
P.s. If you know how to turn off the backlight, please post a review about it! I have a sock hanging over the display, which is less than ideal. :-)
