| oweena's Full Review: Sony VAIO FX340 PC Notebook |
WOW what a computer!!! I got mine at Christmas, and back then, it was top of the line as far as notebooks go. But the great thing about Sony, is that it is so far ahead (quality, functionality, and durability wise) that this computer is STILL top of the line.
I purchased my computer with,
15 gig hard drive (which is pre-partitioned to give an 8 gig c-drive and an 8 gig d-drive)
15 inch display
Floppy drive
256 Mb ram
Pentium 3 processor at 900 MHz
and a revolutionary new cd/cd-rw/dvd-rom combo drive
Windows XP pre-loaded with a bunch of other useful programs (including pc-cillin virus scanner and Microsoft Word XP)
and bonus hardware like the TV video port connector (enabling you to use any TV screen as a monitor for your computer), and a weight saver kit (which allows you to either set up dual batteries with your computer, by taking out the floppy drive and either inserting a piece with a battery or just a piece itself to lessen the computers already lightened load)
I am so pleased with my computer, I take it absolutely everywhere I go. And the DVD player helps keep me entertained all the time. I am very pleased with the quality of the computer except for one latch which broke on me because of my own carelessness. Because of this break i was able to test out the Sony repair services, and found they were average but not as user friendly as the computer itself.
I needed to send my computer off to Vancouver to get it fixed because that was the closest Sony factory to me. other then the 3 days it took to send there and get back, the repair was clean, well done, with no sign of any flaws.
One thing about the computer and the Windows XP is its ability to recognize new hardware when it has been plugged in and quickly and easily install the drivers (automatically) for that particular hardware if its its first time being used. I just recently went to Radio Shack and bought a mini optical mouse to go along with the computer so I would be able to draw more precise diagrams with the mouse, and it is working great! All I have to do is plug it in whenever I want to use it, and 1,2,3... it starts working, like that! No fuss or restarting needed.
So overall i am very pleased with the computer, and Sony for a wonderful piece of equipment in which its use makes my life easier and just a bit more fun.
I recommend this computer to anyone, absolutely anyone, because of its wide variety of strengths, it could quite easily be the computer for you and any task at hand.
I hope this review has helped you if you are trying to make a decision about computers to buy. But if this computer is not the one for you, then you might want to look at the rest of the Sony selection, because they too will have the same high ranking abilities of this computer and all have a name brand to trust.
Good luck in your purchase choices.
