wadlington's Full Review: Sony Walkman WM-FX281 Personal Cassette Player
It's Durable and Cheap: I use my Sony Cassette/TV/Radio/Weather band Player every day for almost 8 years with absolute neglect -- never cleaned the tape player head, dropped it a couple of times, neglected to clean the accumulated dust -- but it plays and functions like it did the first day I purchased it at Walgreens for less than what I paid for a CD.
Easy to use: It comes with just a few buttons -- not complicated like some watches where if you lose the instruction manual, you can never turn off the alarm, etc. So easy that you can use it in the dark.
Unique Feature: The TV Channels make this a great buy -- a great cheap buy. You're wondering if the TV channels are useless without the screen. Amazingly, listening to TV is just as good as watching TV, especially for shows like PBS, Judge Judy, late night talk shows, the news, etc that are more language-based than action-based. Mega Bass, AVLS, FM mode flexibility are a plus. 40 Preset channels (24 FM radio stations, 7 TV stations, 5 AM stations, 4 Weather bands) means no more tuning and jumping from station to station.
Battery: I've made 2 AA batteries last for a month of daily use -- not with Walgreens batteries, mind you, but the good ones.
