| tja2_99's Full Review: Soyo Slot A SY-K7VIA Motherboard |
The SOYO SLOT A based SY-K7-VIA is a great board. You can configure almost every aspect of the system in the BIOS even alot of settings most other boards wont allow. The CPU is plug and play which means put it in your ready to go. There are no Jumpers to have to play with. as for overclocking it is possible because you are able to change bus speeds and clock multipliers from within the SOYO bios setup screen however you need a good quality proccesser or the sytem gets pretty unstable.
My system is fairly basic and suits my needs I have a 950MHZ AMD K7 processer with 3 256MB PC100 Memory chips in it. and just a generic 64 MB AGP video card. with a 20 GB IDE hard Drive. 2 Netgear 10/100 NIC's (it is being used as a server and workstation for my home business) 2 Lexmark I3 USB printers and a cheap CANoSCAN USB Scanner.
Everything runs extremely stable except for the occasional Microsoft Crap that happens everywhere.
As for the OS I am dual booting(i guess tri booting) Linux 7.51, Windows 98SE and Windows NT.
