beonder13's Full Review: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for Xbox
Available for the XBOX, PS2, Game Cube, PC and Game Boy Advance, Splinter Cell is the first title in a current series of three.
The year is 2003. You are Sam Fisher, an elite US spy for Third Echelon, a top secret initiative of the NSA (National Security Administration). Field ops are a solo expedition but you have the support of a remote team who will feed you info and guide you through your missions to your goal. If caught, you are on your own. Acting alone, you are a Splinter Cell.
Although this game was released in 2003 it was, and is, highly regarded as being the game that introduced the world to true stealth gaming. Light and shadows key elements in the game and play a vital role in your success. Run and gunners need not apply. This game requires patience. You must hide in shadows and slip by your enemies as if you were never there. If seen you must quickly incapacitate or kill your enemies and hide the bodies in shadowed areas so that they will not be found. If bodies are found by other MCPs they will sound the alarms and end your mission. An onscreen meter lets you know if an area is dark enough for hiding your foes or yourself.
Some handy tools of the trade are night vision, your trusty silenced pistol, lock pick, and an assortment of spy tools.

The original Splinter Cell is a true that should be in every gamers collection.
