| orangestarfish's Full Review: Spring Air Back Supporter Four Seasons Mattress |
Please see update at bottom of review!!
I used to sleep on a fabulous mattress - the Crown Jewel, non-pillow top. What a great mattress, very supportive. When we bought our new house we also bought a king size bed and the crown jewel went into the guest room with the queen size bed.
If I were to pick out a mattress at a mattress store I would probably have chosen the pillowtop crown jewel, mostly because of the experience I had with my prior mattress and I trust Sealy for their supportive mattresses, but I didn't pick my current mattress out, my husband did.
Not to say I don't like it. I love it, and the first time I slipped under the covers, I thought I was in heaven. It is soooo comfortable! The mattress is also very fat which I like, and it has one side that is silk padding and one side that is wool padding. One for the summer and one for the winter. Very good idea.
Well, we've had the mattress for 2 years. The other day as I was lying in bed, I realized that the mattress was sagging. When I made the bed the other day, I could see two body impressions in it that were extremely noticeable even when the bed was all made up with a blanket and a quilt. We had not ever flipped the mattress which definitely should have been done a year ago, but the mattress is so big and fat and impossible to move, we never could unless my husband called someone over to help.
Needless to say, today we flipped the mattress. We got help. It looks to be less saggy and the body impressions are not as noticeable, so we'll see how that goes. What I am thinking though is how long will this mattress last?? I would expect to get 10 years at least out of a good mattress, but this one seems to already have one side that is shot! Oh and by the way, I weigh 100 lbs. That's it. How deep of a body impression could I possibly have made?
So, although this mattress is very comfortable, I question it's quality. I think that when you spend $3500 on a mattress it should last 10-15 years. I am hoping for 10 at least but am doubting that very much. I think next time I will do a little more research.
***Update*** We have now had the mattress for 6 years. I am still in love with this mattress and it is just as comfortable as it was when we got it. The body impressions seem to be solely in the pillowtop, not the actual springs of the mattress, and I still get into bed every night and think about how much I love the bed. I sleep great in it and it's fabulous. I am thinking this mattress will last now. I can see still having this same mattress for years to come.
