I have a shelf full of bath and body products. There are all kinds of body washes, body scrubs, but very few lotions. I am down to exactly 2 lotions and neither of them was what I wanted to use at the time. I like to layer my scents or use sets of body wash and lotion in the same scent together. I decided I needed an all purpose lotion so I would have one to slather on whenever I just wanted some regular old lotion. So off I went to Target in search of some regular lotion. I discovered St. Ives Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer and it is anything but regular!

Product and Packaging
Whipped Silk comes in a standard 14 oz. plastic bottle. The bottle itself is white, but the flip top lid is dark blue. Most of St. Ives' lotions have a pump, but this product is squeezed out through a cute little star or flower shaped hole in the top of the bottle. It looks so pretty when the lotion is squeezed out. It's a minor detail, but I enjoy it. :)
I purchased this lotion from Target for around $4. It's a very luxurious silky lotion. I think it's a steal for $4.
My Experience
Of course the first thing I do is smell a lotion. I can not have something gross on me on day long. I have this lotion in Orchard Mist. It was the only scent my Target carried. However, I now know it also comes in Soft Petal Breeze scent too. Orchard Mist is a light floral scent. Normally I don't go for floral scents, but this one isn't too sweet or fake smelling. It's actually a clean, fresh floral scent. It's not too strong and wear it under perfume with no problems or clashing of scents.
I squeezed some lotion out through that cute little flower shaped hole. The lotion is white and fairly thick. It squirts out and holds it shape instead of oozing all over the place. It looks like it will be a very heavy, thick moisturizer, but it doesn't feel that way at all. I was thrilled to discover that St. Ives Whipped Silk practically melts in your skin with little effort. It feels very silky and luxurious on your skin. I found it took surprisingly little effort to rub the lotion in. My skin drank it up immediately and I was left with the most amazingly soft, smooth skin. I really was silky smooth.
My skin was in no way greasy. I couldn't tell I had applied lotion a minute earlier. My skin was completely soft and very moisturized. This lotion is for extra dry skin, but it works for my normal skin after a shower. It isn't too heavy for my skin, but I still feel it would be very effective for someone who does have extra dry skin. This is an amazing lotion.
I use it directly after my shower and have never noticed any irritation. It doesn't sting on freshly shaved legs. I have had no problems with this lotion. My skin looks and feels so incredibly soft and moisturized all day long. I apply this once each morning and my skin will be moist until the next morning when I take my shower again. There is no need to reapply.

Final Thoughts
I think St. Ives Whipped Silk could give more expensive moisturizers a run for their money. It is rich, luxurious, and feels heavenly going on. This lotion will definitely become a staple in my beauty collection.
