The Bottom Line: If you can find one of these wonderful yard carts, buy it. You will like it better than a wheelbarrow.

My wife and I love to go to public auctions. Mostly to see what people will pay for the items that are for sale. I also like to look for bargains with the idea of getting useful products for a cheap price. So far I have found 2 Homelite weed eaters, 2 wheelbarrows, and several assorted lawn and garden items many for less than $10. I must say that probably one of the most useful things that I find was the Step2 Yard-About 5200. My idea was to give this cart to my wife so she would quit throwing weeds from her flower gardens in to my freshly mowed lawn. The idea of a yard cart that would hold a lot of waste and even had room for her gardening tools even appealed to her.
Kind of works like a wheelbarrow, but better.
The cart is made almost completely of a heavy duty poly plastic. This material helps to keep the cart lightweight and leaves no chance of it rusting. The capacity of the cart is 6 cubic feet and the overall measurements are 22 ˝ high by 24 wide by 45 long. The handle makes up about 10 of the overall length so the box area is 22 ˝ by 24 by 35. In the handle is a trough to put your gloves or garden tools that is 4 ˝ deep by 15 ˝ long by 5 wide. The wheels are also made of a sturdy plastic and are 10 across to make rolling this cart around very easy even in uneven areas. These two wheels are joined by a solid metal rod that will withstand some pretty heavy loads. The front or the cart is sloped to allow the load to slide out easily. On the bottom is an area the acts like a stand to keep the cart upright. Between this fairly large flat surface and the two wheels, there is very little chance of the cart toppling over. I have no idea how old this cart is since I bought it used, but it looks like new. I do know that Step2 has not made these carts for quite some time.
Easy rolling even with heavy loads.
We have owned this cart for about 4 years and in that time it has seen a lot of use. The idea of having a stable sitting cart that is capable of hauling or storing heavy loads is very appealing to me. This cart has been used to haul weeds, ground, compost, kitty litter and even ashes from my coal stove during the winter months. I truly like to use it more than my wheelbarrows, because it is easier to move and more steady to load. There is really little chance of this cart flopping over because of the two wheels and the flat base on the bottom. I also like the idea that this cart will not rust or corrode like a metal wheelbarrow, so we are safe to put our coal ashes into it without a worry. We have hauled some pretty heavy loads in this cart and I have not seen a bend or buckle in the box handle or wheels. I would say that this cart is pretty much unbreakable and should last for a long, long time. Also with the large sized wheels, this cart is capable of rolling over stones, even terrain, and even loose ground.
The bad news,
You will need to look pretty hard to find one of these carts, since Step2 discounted making them several years ago. If you can find one, buy it. I got lucky and paid $8 for ours at a public auction. My hope is that Step2 will start making this type of product again.
All in all: I really would rather use the Step2 Yard-About 5200 than any of my wheelbarrows for moving compost, weeds and so on. It is a lot sturdier for loading purposes and I think that it rolls easier and dumps easier. The 6 cu. Ft. box will hold a lot of whatever material that you are working with. And as I said it will not rust or corrode so it will last a long time.
