fuche_bu's Full Review: TABASCO Garlic Pepper Sauce
My fondness for hot sauce is not limited to simply abusing extremely hot habanero sauces. I like to have an arsenal of different styles and flavors. This keeps things interesting for me. One flavor I like a lot is garlic pepper sauces. I have tried numerous variations in my gastronomical pursuit. These sauces work well when you are also taking flavor into consideration.
One of my standard garlic hot sauces is Tabasco Garlic Pepper Sauce. I know Tabasco is a big name but they do a good job with their hot sauces. They also have the advantage that many grocery stores do not carry a wide variety of garlic pepper sauces. I like to keep a bottle of garlic pepper sauce in work. This is one brand that is carried at the supermarket across the street. It has created a monopoly in my workplace.
Well, I can't gripe too much, though. I have found it to be a very good garlic sauce. Garlic is a wonderful addition to sauce. It adds flavor without greatly diminishing the heat. Tabasco Garlic Pepper Sauce has a fire red hue. It looks like sauce that doesn't mess around. You will get a whiff of garlic in the aroma of this sauce. Often the aroma lingers after you put the cap back on. This is good for my workplace. I have heard rumors of vampires for many years. They won't want my blood after lunch.
One thing I like with this sauce is that the garlic is very upfront. You get some garlic flavors before the heat sets in. It's kind of nice to get that early garlic flavor. There is a nice little kick that ensues. You will get a bit of a burn going on the tongue. Now this is not an ulcer inducer but I found it to be pretty hot. It find this is a hot sauce that works well with fish. Many hot sauces don't complement fish. I can use this when I dipping pick and peel shrimp or add some when I am eating Tilapia or flounder. I also like this sauce a lot with vegetable.
The sauce here is made pure. They use red peppers, distilled vinegar, water, salt and garlic. It contains the standard zero calories per serving. There's no fat and no carbohydrates. Just be wary of the 140 mgs of sodium. I guess nothing is perfect. Most people consume way too much salt. If you use this sauce, you might want to shake the salt shaker more gently.
I recommend this sauce for those who like variety with their hot sauce arsenal. The people who really just want extreme heat may find this one lacking. It really does a fine job of balancing heat and flavor. I think that people who like garlic may enjoy this. There is a nice garlic flavor that comes through in this sauce. It's definitely a fine addition to the hot sauce arsenal.
