What can I say to describe this dip? Awesome! I would purchase this T.G.I. Friday’s Spinach & Artichoke Dip by the case if I could. I first came across this brand some years ago when it was first boxed as a frozen food and available in grocery stores. I was originally put off by it because I wasn’t sure it would be as good as the dip you can get as a appetizer in the T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant. The T.G.I. Friday’s Spinach & Artichoke Dip contains just that. It’s a combination of spinach and artichoke hearts mixed with a creamy alfredo sauce and roasted garlic. The 8 oz. box contains one black, plastic tray that contains the product mixture. The actual product should be kept frozen until you are ready to heat it in the microwave. The mixture is just right. Sometimes I do get a box where the artichoke hearts are really large. I am not a huge fan of them if they aren’t mixed well into some kind of dish, so if they are really large I just take them out or cut them up. But usually I don’t have a problem. For those that aren’t a fan of spinach, you just might be able to eat this as the alfredo sauce does mask a lot of the flavor. The sauce is just right and is creamy, but not to the point of being watery. My cousin used to say it was gross when she caught me eating it but I managed to convince her one-day and now she purchases it for herself. The directions state that you should vent one side of the plastic before microwaving. But I have found that it just doesn’t cook as quickly and thoroughly, so I began punching holes in the plastic in several places instead of venting it. It works better to allow the full product to be heated more thoroughly. Cooking on high power for two minutes should loosen up the frozen product. I recommend then opening the plastic and stirring the product up. After this, I usually replace the plastic and put the product back into the microwave for around 30-45 seconds. Make sure this stuff is fully cooked and hot before eating, it doesn’t taste to good when cold. The tray is microwaveable and can easily be discarded afterwards. Although if you find yourself not wanting to throw it away, you can wash it and use it a few more times before throwing it away, it can help to prevent as much waste. ~ Nutrition Facts ~ Servings per container: 8 Calories: 45 Calories from Fat: 30 Total Fat: 3.5g Saturated Fat: 1.5g Trans Fat: 0g Cholesterol: 10mg Sodium: 115mg Carbohydrates: 2g Protein: 2g Vitamin A: 10% Calcium: 6% ~ Ingredients ~ Spinach, Alfredo Sauce, Cheddar Cheese Powder, Whey, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Whey Protein Concentrate, Lactose, Corn Maltodextrin, Salt, Sodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Lactic Acid, Cream Powder, Sodium Caseinate, Modified Cornstarch, Cellulose Gum, Salt, Xanthan Gum, Mono and Diglycerides, Flavor Enhancer, Artichoke Hearts, Low Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Cream Cheese, Roasted Garlic. I have to say that I love this stuff and probably eat it once a week. Usually I save half of it in the refrigerator for the next day because I can’t eat the whole package. It heats up nicely the next day and doesn’t come out soggy or bland tasting. Of course the taste is slightly different than what’s offered in the restaurant, and I prefer the made up product at the real TGI Fridays restaurant better, but I don’t eat there once a week so this is the next best alternative.
