| My3LilMen's Full Review: Taboo - The Game of Unspeakable Fun |
Seeking challenge with competition in mind? If so, then Taboo may be just the game for you. Taboo is an appropriate game for most any event. The game suggests that players be 12 or older to play this game but depending on your 9 or 10 year olds reading ability this game could even help them improve their thought and relating techniques.
Contents included
504 game cards
holder for the cards
buzzer
timer (hour glass)
score pad
Other contents required but not included in box
pencil or pen for keeping score
2 AA batteries
4 or more players
Object of the Game - Taboo
Once you have your group together and separated into team An and team B it is now time to begin the game. The object of the game is to get as many words guessed and score the most points.
Playing
Everyone should gather around a table and Team A will choose one individual to be the first player to give the clues. The player chosen will sit facing the card holder which holds the card for them. The top word (in color) is the word they are to get their team to guess. No gestures or sound effects maybe used. You cannot say it "sounds like" or "rhymes with" another word. The clues may consist of detailed sentences, phrases or single word hints though. The words forbidden are the additional five words listed below the word to be guessed. If they speak even one of the five words listed the member in charge of the buzzer from the opposing team can buzz him/her. Causing them to lose a point instead of gain. If a word is spoken or if the team giving the clues chooses to pass the card they lose the point and they place the card at the bottom of the pile and the next team is up for their turn to give clues. The buzzer then is given to a member of their opposing team.
When a team gets the word correct they continue playing with the next team mate until their time runs out (hour glass) or they are buzzed.
This continues until all players on each team have had their opportunity to give clues to their team. The points are totaled and the winner will be the team with the most points.
A Few Examples
Listed below you will find a few examples from the Taboo game cards:
**Baseball** word to be guessed
Words that may not be spoken:
Bat
Play
Home Run
Hit
Catch
Words you could say for your team to guess **Baseball** would be Stadium, Mit, bases, third, second, first.
**Leftovers** word to be guessed
words that may not be spoken:
Reheat
Yesterday
Food
Meal
Save
Words you could say to get your team to guess **Leftovers** would be doggie bag, refrigerate, eat
Fun for all
Get the idea? Not too difficult and competition for all. It is a challenge when you are prohibited to say certain words to get your team to guess the word. This game would be fun for the older child, teens and adults of all ages. This game is a bargain for the hours of fun you can have for the price of $19.99. We have had our Taboo game for years and unfortunately it does not get played often since my husband is not a "gamer". Soon my boys will be old enough and then our Taboo game can entertain them and their friends. Maybe if I am lucky, they will let mom play with them on occasion.
