Pros: Durable, good-looking product, full of convenient compartments; provides solid protection for laptop.
Cons: single handle in middle of case, instead of two on opposite ends that come together.
The Bottom Line: If you don't need a top-loading case, and want maximum protection for your laptop, plenty of compartments for other items, and a good-looking case, this is the one for you.

| psaulm119's Full Review: Targus Platinum Deluxe Notebook Case Cpt400 |
This is a great Targus product. I decided to go with Targus for a case for my new laptop, because an earlier laptop I've had came with a Targus case that lasted despite being carried pretty much everywhere, with pretty much everything inside it.
This one has a nice main compartment for your laptop, and an adjustable velcro strap that will keep your laptop from being bounced around inside the compartment. The laptop is firmly held in place by another velcro strap.
There are plenty of compartments to safely transport DVDs, pencils, papers, etc. If you like to carry many items in addition to your laptop, this carrying case will not disappoint you.
There is even a large, unconnected bag for your adapter, which fits nicely in the leftover room in the main compartment right next to the laptop.
It comes with a nice shoulder strap.
Earlier, I had wanted a top-loading carrying case, but the ones that I saw, had zippers that were very close to the exit/entry point, and I thought it would be rather easy to scratch the laptop itself, so I decided to tough it out with a case that needed to be unzipped. Besides, I do like how I can work on the laptop, while it is still in the carrying case. This will work nicely when I find myself with a dirty or uneven surface to work on.
What I said in the Con section, is a bit confusing. Let me clarify. The first Targus case I had, had two thin handles, one on each of the two sides of the case. When you carried it, you would obviously bring those two handles together. This had the effect of enclosing all your papers and items within the bag, no matter how much stuff you had crammed in. As I frequently had lots of papers and books to carry, I would often make this laptop case double as a briefcase.
With the CPT400 as well as most other laptop cases, you don't have this flexibility. Having said this, the bottom line is that the CPT400 has two large storage areas separated by an attached divider that still gives plenty of room for other papers and folders; this entire area has its own zipper.
The materials are obviously not cheap. The entire case looks rather rugged, yet still classy. It definitely does NOT look like something you picked up at a Pic-n-Save.
The fact that I got this on sale with a $20 rebate makes it all the more enjoyable. :)
