xxskagirlxx's Full Review: Tarte Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler
It was time for some new foundation, and so I decided to hit up beauty.com. They were running a promotion for free shipping if you spent over a certain dollar amount, so I decided to add a few odds and ends to my shopping cart (I'm easily persuaded). On a whim, I decided to try the Tarte Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler for $15.
What Tarte Claims:
Smile and say "squeeze!"
With this lash curler, getting a picture perfect curl is a snap.

My experience:
I was currently using a Revlon curler from the drugstore. While it was easy to use, it just didn't provide enough curl. By the end of the day, my eyelashes were back to being straight and blah.
The Tarte Eyelash Curler is made of metal and features soft metallic purple grips and pads. It's easy to hold and it feels nice in my hand.
It operates just like any other eyelash curler; bring it to the base of the lashes and squeeze. I like to get a more rounded curl so I usually squeeze several times down the length of my lashes to avoid a too-severe crimp.
The first thing I noticed is that a very light touch is needed. I was used to squeezing the heck out of my Revlon curler to get any sort of curl. Big mistake. The Tarte Eyelash Curler delivers a lot of curl with a very light squeeze. I don't even hold the clamp down for longer than 2 seconds and Ka-Pow, I have glorious curled eyelashes.
The best part of the curl is that it truly lasts all day, with or without mascara. This is the first eyelash curler I've tried that leaves my lashes curled all the way until bed time. (Background: My eyelashes are on the thinner side, but long).
There is one downside: I've found that it's almost impossible to curl all of my lashes, especially the ones on the outside corners of my lid. I'm not sure if it's the due to the curve of the curler or not. Oftentimes the last 5-6 lashes on the outside of my eye are left stick-straight and it's quite frustrating. I've tried re-positioning the curler and sometimes I can manage to get the outside lashes, but then the rest of my lashes have a funny crimp. It seems to happen more with my left eye over my right eye. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, but I can never tell what I've changed with my technique. I've been using the curler since December of 2007 and I would say that it only curls all of my lashes maybe 60% of the time.
Bottom Line:
The Tarte Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler delivers a perfect, long-lasting curl as promised. Frankly, it's much better than any eyelash curler I've tried. However, the fact that it doesn't curl all of my lashes all the time lowers my overall impression of the product.
