| juan1573's Full Review: Taylor Made 360 Ti Driver |
I purchased this club in the Spring of 2002. My previous Driver was the original Taylor Titanium with a TS-100 bubble shaft and I was not very happy with it so I was hesitant to buy another Taylor Made driver. After reading as much as I could about several drivers and hitting just a few times into a net at a store I decided to give it a shot. I was considering the Titleist J driver as well but I wasn't willing to pay that much for it.
Since entering the working world my handicap has slipped from about a 5 in college to a 14 in about 3 years and my driving was a big part of the problem. I needed a driver that I could keep the ball in play more often with. Distance wasn't a big problem for me but consistency was.
I decided on the Taylor 360, 9.5 degree loft with a Stiff Graffaloy shaft. The club has many different variations and can be confusing if you don't know what you are looking for so be sure to do some homework. I've heard the new Bubble Shafts are much better but be sure to try it out first.
After buying the club I took it out to the range for some practice. I started out by cold topping my first two shots and wondered if I had made a mistake. However, after about a half bucket of balls I got used to the large size of the driver and became much more consistent. With my previous driver I was having a lot of trouble keeping the ball in play and it was causing me to enjoy playing a lot less. The large head on this club gives me a lot of confidence and I tend to just swing away and let the club do the work.
I've used the club for an entire summer and so far I am very happy with it. My typical ball flight is normally a slight draw and that worried me because prior to buying this club I read that it favored players who hit a fade but I haven't had any trouble with that so far. I think getting the Graffaloy shaft might be part of the reason that I haven't had any problems.
I really didn't buy this driver to increase my distance but it does seem to go a little farther than my old one. I really like that fact that I'm keeping the ball in play and hitting more fairways now.
I would definitely buy this club again but I can't say it would be the right fit for everyone. If you are a scratch golfer who likes to work the ball a lot or don't like the large heads you might want to consider the 300 or 320.
