Pros: While rivals offer more features or cheaper products, I prefer 1200s because of their dependability.
Cons: /- 8 pitch control. Newer models have a /- 10.
The Bottom Line: Although djing is progressing through a "digital revolution", purists will ensure that vinyl will always have an essential role in the club scene. Technics are the industry standard.

| djakira's Full Review: Technics SL-1200M3D Turntable |
I've had my SL1200 M3Ds for eight years and my 1200s (Amy and Julie) have never failed me (TIP: give your tables names so you take care of them). The 3D model is an upgrade of the previous 1200 models because of the rest pitch button, the "no-click-on-0" pitch, and the extended on/off cap. Although not necessary, the added features allow djs more piece of mind...less margin of error.
I've brought these tables to over 100 gigs and they are in the same condition as day one. Whether playing for friends or a couple thousand people, I strongly recommended buying the Technics 1200M3D because they are as dependable as a good friend. If you are responsible and transport them in appropriate turntable cases, they will last you a lifetime.
I've talked to djs in the business for over 20 years, although they are using the earlier models, they are still using the same Technics decks they bought 20 years ago-you cannot say this about any other product except maybe Singer sowing machines (according to my dry cleaner). If you can't afford 1200s and are looking at cheaper models, I recommend just saving your money and waiting to buy the 12's. If you have high dj ambitions and commitment to good mixing, avoid buying those "dj in a box" kits, buy the 1200. Theres a reason why they are the industry standard.
