| shantel575's Full Review: The Body Shop Lip Line Fixer |
I'm always game to try something that claims to prevent lipstick and lipgloss from bleeding. I have really oily skin and bleeding can be a problem if I don't have on a good lip liner. The Body Shop Lip Line Fixer seemed like a good idea since it claims to work like a lip liner, go on clear and prevent bleeding.
Here's the product info. from the Body Shop's website:
"A creamy, moisturizing, retractable pencil that can be used to form an invisible barrier around the mouth area to help 'fill' fine lines and prevent lipstick bleeding."
This product comes in a black pencil form and it has a retractable feature. When you twist the product out of the pencil, it appears to be a dull white color.
When I used the pencil I applied it like I would any other lip liner by lightly lining my lips in preparation for my lipstick. The product does seem to be somewhat creamy in texture as claimed. Unfortunately that was the only thing I found to be remotely accurate based on the Body Shop's claims for this product.
The product did not go on clear or "invisible" at all. It's white. A sheer white, but still white. I tried to blend it out some to get it to disappear but that didn't work. The product was most definitely visible around the edges of my lips! It was also difficult to apply evenly. The product did not apply smoothly as a lip liner should, but instead it kind of dragged and got too thick or clumpy in spots. It seemed that it wanted to go onto my lips way too thick so it would start building up and making a mess. Again I tried to blend it with my fingertip but it was difficult to work with and no matter how much I tried to blend it, the whiteness wouldn't go away.
Even though I was already disappointed with this product I did wear it several times with lipstick and/or lipgloss in order to fully test it. This product has big claims about filling lines around the mouth and preventing bleeding but I didn't find it to be spectacular in any way. I have this one little line on a part of my top lip that is really annoying and I'm always trying to find a product that will fill it (or make it go away!) and this one did not meet that need. It didn't fill the line in any way and I also did not notice that it helped very much with preventing lipstick from creeping off of my lips.
Needless to say, I was not impressed with this product from the Body Shop and I just don't see any reason to recommend it to anyone.
I purchased this for $9 and it is available on the Body Shop website (www.thebodyshop.com), through a Body Shop at Home Consultant or in a Body Shop store (in some shopping malls and airports).
