chrisceb's Full Review: The Body Shop Wheat Protein Volumizing Mousse
Recently The Body Shop has revamped their haircare lines. They do everything from cleansers to conditioners, to waxes and even brushes. I've been using a number of The Body Shop products but just recently decided to dive into their haircare line. And I've been extremely pleased with the results I'm getting.
Just a bit of background about the type of hair I have. It leans on the shorter side, has lots of layers, is quite flippy, is VERY heavy, and is chemically highlighted. I'd say I have normal to dry hair. Not overly dry, but needed just a touch of moisturization due to chemically treating it and blowing it out on a regular basis. It's also got some decent wave to it.
I've been looking for a styling product that will give me some volume that will help with the heaviness of my hair but won't dry it out. A product that will help with shine, but won't weigh it down. A product that will help protect my hair from daily blowouts but won't leave a residue. Oh and it has to be reasonably priced, and something I can repurchase easily. Sounds like I'm asking a bit too much doesn't it? Well guess what? I actually found that exact product!!
The Product:
The Body Shop Volumizing Foam Mousse. That's the ticket! It's formulated for all hair types, but works especially well for those with fine curly hair. It gives a light natural looking and feeling hold. All you do is pump a bit into your hand and work into wet hair. Then style! It gives a light hold but with LOTS of volume! And the best part? It doesn't weigh down your hair!
It has Wheat Protein in it which means hair will be shiny! As the wheat protein penetrates your hair shaft it adds moisture and gloss and it protects your hair from blow drying!
Here are all the ingredients:
Water, Alcohol Denat., PVP/VA Coplymer, Hydrolised Wheat Protein, PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Methylparaben, Fragrance, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Sodiun Hydroxide, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, Denatonium Benzoate
You can get a 6.75 oz pump bottle of Volumizing Mousse at your local The Body Shop stores or from your personal Body Shop at Home Consultant for a mere $10.
My Experience:
I've tried a number of The Body Shop products from skincare to bubble bath and I've loved just about everything I've tried. So I thought I'd dive into The Body Shop's world of haircare. Word on the street was that The Body Shop at Home SOLD FLAT OUT of most of their haircare lines because of how awesome it was selling. So once the products came back in stock, I didn't hesitate to scoop up some new haircare items.
When I got my order in, I immediately tried the Volumizing Mousse. A few pumps into the hand and I thought I'd wasted my money. This mousse did NOT hold up. It almost seemed watery in my hand. When I've used mousse in the past I'd squirt out a handful and get what looks like a dollop of whipped cream in my hand. Not The Body Shop Volumizing Mousse. This stuff was a big let down, or so to speak. But I applied it to my hair anyway and remembered that The Body Shop stands behind all their products 100% and if I didn't like it, or it didn't work then I could just return it and get my money back.
I applied it to my hair and applied some more because it didn't feel like anything was in my hair. Usually my hair feels a bit slick or sticky with mousse or hair gel in it. The Volumizing Mousse felt like NOTHING in my hair. I styled as usual.
WOW! This stuff is truly THE BOMB! Not only did my hair style awesome, it stayed in place ALL DAY LONG. Not only did it stay in place all day long, but I could run my fingers through it and not lose any lift or bounce. Not only did I not lose any lift or bounce, but the shine knocked my socks off! I can't get over how light the Volumizing Mousse feels on my hair but how much volume it gives me. I also like the fact that I'm protecting my hair from blow drying and heat styling.
My hair not only looks healthier, but it feels healthier as well. I also use the Olive Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner from The Body Shop at Home, which is for normal to dry hair and gives a glossing/shine to my hair.
If you're looking for a styling product that will give good hold, won't dry your hair out, will protect it, give it an amazing shine and is reasonably price...you've found it! Call up your personal Body Shop at Home consultant and get you some!
