| yakkowarner's Full Review: The Boudin Bakery - California Adventure |
This is a silly little tour of a Boudin bread bakery located in California Adventure. California Adventure is a smaller park located right next to Disneyland (Anaheim, Ca.). This is a short bakery tour showing how sourdough bread is baked. And you get free bread. : )
How the Boudin Bakery works
Just like the tortilla factory, you wait outside until the attendant lets you in. Then you go inside, receive a sample of sourdough bread (yes, free bread) and watch the first part of an information video. It is hosted by Rosie ODonnel (comedian, movies, and television) and Colin Mochrie (comedian, Whos line, and limited movie experience), there are no Disney employee there to escort you around, just the video. They give a very informative, and funny, look into the process. I actually enjoyed the little show. Then we go into the bakery where the dough rests, mixed, is turned into a ball, rests in a cool little contraption, is balled again, rests somewhere in the back room, is scored, then baked in cool rotating ovens. There is also two more short films that are still hosted by Rosie and Colin.
The main bread they seem to do is the bread bowls, but they also do the rolls for Ariels Grotto and the bread sold at various stands around the park. For Christmas you will see Santa heads and candy canes. The candy cane is quite good.
It is a short tour and should take you 10-15 minutes at the most. You can walk through it in 5 minutes if you wanted to.
What I like about the Boudin Bakery tour.
It is a nice break and you get a bread sample. Since my son loves sourdough he like going on this tour. The film is entertaining as well as informative.
What I do not like about the Boudin Bakery.
You usually only get one free bread sample. : (
The bakers do not work every day so sometimes there is nothing to see but the movie. I think they are more active on the weekend than on the weekdays, but Im not too sure on this.
Who is this for
All ages.
