The master of sarcasm and action, Nelson DeMille follows up "Plumb Island" with John Corey continuing as Special Contract Agent for the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force in "The Lion's Game". John Corey's challenge is to apprehend a well organized and clever terrorist Asad Khalil who is on a religious and personal mission to right the wrong of the US bombing attack on Al Azzizal, where Mommar Gadafi lost family members and was nearly done in himself.
The story gives great insight into the internal struggle among FBI, CIA, NYPD, etc. and the problems involved with each agency trying to protect its turf and get credit for success. DeMille also has great understanding of the working of the Arab mind, soul and psyche and throughout shows us the religious and logical implications of a man on a mission (Jihad) of revenge and death.
In spite of John Corey being "insensitive, loutish, self-centered, egotistical, rude and sarcastic," we love his style in both romance and sleuthing.
This is a great book and if you haven't read "Plumb Island" yet, grab it too.
