Pros: My hair felt soft after washing. Has some UV protection.
Cons: Expensive and it doesn't smell wonderful. Tested on animals.
The Bottom Line: I do like this shampoo and would buy it again for a good price. I don't like the smell and still do prefer Suave.

| jo.com's Full Review: Thermasilk Shampoo Color Revitalizing |
I really do like Suave shampoo and for $.99 it is hard to beat. But I had a coupon at CVS that I couldn’t pass up on ThermaSilk Revitalizing Shampoos. My product “improves condition of color or permed hair.” My hair is colored so this one made sense. This shampoo usually sells for $3.79 for a 13 fluid ounce bottle but I had a 2 for 1 coupon. On top of that I had a $1.00 off coupon. In addition if you spend more than $10.00 4 times in may you get $8.00 so this product ended up costing me more than Suave but a lot less than $3.79! You can also buy it in a 25.4 fluid ounce bottle for about $6.49.
About this product and the claims:
~It comes in a 13 fluid ounce plastic bottle.
~This may sound silly but it is packaged elegantly. It is in a purple bottle, which is very sleek looking. You cannot see the shampoo through the bottle.
~It has a push down top, which is great, because it only takes one hand. What I did find that I don’t like happened with Clairol Daily Defense products also. I have to squeeze hard to get out the shampoo. Rather than just squirting or pouring out, you have to squeeze the bottle to get it out of the top. You can unscrew the whole top and then it will just pour out, but that doesn't make sense. If you have any finger problems, you will not like this packaging.
~ThermaSilk claims to revive hair “that may be dry or damaged from chemical treatments."
~We are told that it will “help protect color against fading from the sun and environmental damage with UV protection and anti-oxidants."
~This shampoo is heat activated to improve the condition of your hair.
From the bottle: What does heat activated mean? It means that it has heat activated moisturizers that “help lock in your hair’s moisture that can be lost during heat styling…”
In fact this should be used when drying your hair with a hairdryer. From drugstore.com “ThermaSilk shampoos, conditioners and styling products contain revolutionary protein formulas that are stimulated by the heat from your blow dryer or curling iron. ThermaSilk products go beyond protection to actually improve your hair's condition, leaving it looking and feeling healthier.”
I am only using it when I do dry my hair with the hair dryer. Since I don’t always, I use other products then.
What is the product like?
~I told you that I am a Suave fan. I haven’t found the perfect shampoo but I happen to like shampoo that smells nice. ThermaSilk doesn’t smell bad, but it doesn’t smell good. It smells like the shampoo used in hair salons and perhaps that is good. Maybe we don’t need coconut or fruit in our hair, but if all things are the same or similar, then I would go with the shampoo that smells nice.
~We were told above that this shampoo contains UV protection. I am sure it does, but I would think they would market it better. Having UV protection is a really nice feature and my sense after reviewing so many products is that the amount of UV protection is so small, they can’t write in on the front of the bottle!
~This is a clear, somewhat sticky shampoo that isn’t thick. It lathers up nicely and I was happy about that, although in another review I wrote I learned (at least from that company) that the amount of lathering is unimportant.
~I only needed a little bit of ThermaSilk to wash my hair, which is nice. I didn’t need to pour a whole palmful of shampoo to feel as if my hair was clean and my hair is long.
~It rinsed out really nicely. My hair felt really smooth even before I conditioned it, which is different than other shampoos I have tried.
Directions
~Like almost any shampoo you apply this to wet hair, lather and rinse. Heat style as usual. There is nothing on the bottle that says to repeat, which I especially like. I never wash my hair twice and if the product says I should I wonder why it isn’t working the first time around!
~It is suggested that you should follow with ThermaSilk Revitalizing shampoo.
Other information:
~Made by Helene Curtis it is tested on animals. http://www.peta.org/mall/cc/cctest.html. Suave is also made by Helene Curtis and is tested on animals, thus I have not found a 5 star shampoo yet.
~There is a 1-800 number on the bottle for questions or comments.
~The company makes the bottle coded for recycling. It is a number 2, which is recyclable in my area. Please do recycle if you can.
Ingredients from drug.store.com:
Water (aqua), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Dimethiconal, Sodium Glutamate, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance (parfum), Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, PPG-9, Mica, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, TEA-dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Methenamine, Arginine, Phytantriol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Silk Protein, Silk Amino Acids, Titanium Dioxide
Below is Suave:
I know some people think ingredients are fillers and here I am comparing ThermaSilk with Suave Coconut but I am doing so anyway.
Water (Aqua), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Chloride, Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Cocamide MEA, PEG-5 Cocamide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Fragrance (Parfum), Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Isopropyl Palmitate, Tetrasodium Edta, DMDM Hydantoin, Citric Acid, Ammonium Xylenesulfonate, Propylene Glycol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Honey (Mel), Nettle (Urtica Diocia) Extract, Rosemary (Rossmarinus Officinalis) Extract
I was especially interested in finding the UV in ThermaSilk. Titanium Dioxide, the last ingredient sounded the most like some type of sunscreen. This is what it is: "Sachtleben also supplies nano-titanium dioxides suitable for high-factor sun-protection cremes” from http://www.sachtleben.com/h/e/prd/0690e.html
If you are a scientist or chemist I would love to know if the fact that this is the last product is enough to give UV protection (Personally I wear a cap when I am outside anyway.) which is worth almost $2.00 more per bottle than Suave.
My final thoughts:
~I really did like the way my hair feels while I shampoo with ThermaSilk. After I blow-dry my hair, it feels good and it feels healthy. Does it feel good and healthy enough to spend $3.79 for it? No, but I would buy it again if I had the kind of deal I did that got me to buy it in the first place.
~If you like nice smelling shampoo you will definitely not like this product. I am giving it 4 stars because as I said my hair felt nice...just not nice enough to justify the price and the fact it is tested on animals.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.
