I have been a Tivo fan for several years. I love it!! This has certainly changed my families life. Tivo is great to have for recording shows (no more find the tape!) and fast forwarding through commercials. I now have 4 DVRs in my house!! I must say that I very much prefer my Tivo units more than Directv's DVRs. Tivo is much easier to use and cool screens. My 6 year old son has his own Tivo and has been able to figure it out quite easily. The format is easy to use. I do wish that there were buttons on the unit for the times I can't find the remote! The price is a bit of a downfall. The Tivo units are quite expensive and now with the cable companies having their own DVRs you'd think that the would come down in price. Also the price for the service is high. You can no longer get the lifetime package. I did get them to lower my monthly price when I was thinking of switching fully to the blah DVRs - due to the price. Directv did have an agreement with Tivo, but now they have their own - less user friendly ones. My husband complains on a daily basis about the Directv one. Tivo is great if you don't have a cable company that has its own DVR. The TIVO concept is great! I have had one of my Tivos for 5 years now and it hasn't needed replacing. I haven't ever had to reset it due to freezing up either (I'm always reseting my other ones). I will keep it until it dies! I love TIVO!
