Watch for the surprise "early termination fee"!

I had an original series 2 and always liked it but when I got HD service and Tivo did nothing to support HD, I cancelled. The cable company HD DVR's have been ok but have their quirks so I though after three years I would try the Tivo HD. I was really surprised that they had made so little progress in three years. Tivo2go had been out for a while on the series 2 and I used it a bit but found it slow and buggy. Three years later and still slow and buggy! Multiple HD channels in my cable company lineup could not be scheduled and there is effectively no support for anything that doesn't work so good luck...
I returned mine to Costco, then sat on hold for 20 minutes waiting to cancel (can't cancel online) Was told that I might get $12.95 (first months charge) back but I was over 30 days. Said I didn't care about monthly charge and that was it. Few weeks later I get $143 charged to my credit card - "early termination fee" Don't know how they buried it in the agreement but I never would have agreed to that "feature" Bottom line is unless you really hate your cable company DVR - I would not recommend Tivo.
