Pros: Clear pictures, solid body
Cons: Major power problems rendered mine useless. Toshiba offers little in the way of support.
The Bottom Line: I can't recommend this camera because it's unreliable. I loved mine while it worked, but now it's useless. I've been dissatisfied with the response I've gotten from Toshiba.

| hillarysme's Full Review: Toshiba PDR-M71 Digital Camera |
I was very pleased with this camera during the first year or so that I had it. It worked great. I had to buy NiMH rechargeable batteries to run the camera, but they worked fine.
The problem is that now, after working for about a year, the camera will not turn on. I've tried three sets of fully charged rechargeables, and one set of brand new alkalines. I took the camera to a highly rated repair shop, and they were not able to figure out the problem.
I am somewhat suspicious because I had the same problem with my original camera, a PDRM61. Originally Toshiba offered me a replacement PDRM61, which had the same problem. They wouldn't give me a refund, but they allowed me to upgrade to the M71. I find it too coincidental that I've had the same problem with 3 Toshiba digital cameras.
I've read other reviews of Toshiba digital cameras that indicate that many others have had the same experiences with power problems. Toshiba at one point told me to buy a $50 AC adapter from them to see if that would help, but I'm reluctant to waste any more money on this purchase.
I will not buy another Toshiba camera, and after my experiences, I would not recommend them to others.
