Pros: Physically durable. Good grip. Media is cheap. Uses AA batteries. Decent pictures.
Cons: Included software is pathetic. No OS X drivers. Support is virtually nonexistent. Uses AAs. Pricey.
The Bottom Line: If you can get one really cheap, go ahead and get it. Otherwise, go for a more prominent brand.

| stellertony's Full Review: Toshiba PDR-M71 Digital Camera |
I bought the PDR-M71 a few years ago with some prize money from a contest. It was a good camera for its time, although it was really expensive ($400 on sale + memory & a USB card). The camera is pretty rugged, and stood up to a few falls. It takes fairly good pictures, although the media is somewhat obsolete at this point. (That means it is easy to find). I used it with my computer for a few months, but when I upgraded to Mac OS X, I was disappointed to find that there was no support for the platform - 2 or 3 years after it came out.
At some point in this time period, the supplied wrist strap snapped, sending the camera crashing to the floor. May or may not be related to the following.
About a year and a half after I bought the camera, it started cutting out on the battery - I had to secure the battery cover with one hand at times. This continued for about 3 months, until it got to the point that the camera would only start up momentarily before cutting out. I tried to get in touch with Toshiba, but the only support option was a $39 phone call. I eventually took the camera to Kit's Camera as well as a local repair shop. Kit's would cost $255 for repair, and the local place said there wasn't parts available. He said something to the effect of "That's the problem - there's all these companies who are well-known, but not for their cameras, and we just can't get parts for them." Essentially, this is a good camera, but don't expect any help if anything happens.
