The body you want in half the time? Maybe. Let's take a look at the Nautilus TreadClimber TC1000...
The TC1000:
A study conducted by Adelphi University (Ever heard of it? Me either.) claims that a 180 lbs individual can burn approximately 348 calories in 30 minutes at just 3.0 mph (average walking speed).
So...what is this thing?
The TC1000 is a hybrid treadmill/stairclimber...do you see the connection? Treadmill/stairclimber - TreadClimber...the steps go up and down and the tread rotates. According to Nautilus it helps you burn fat faster! And that's always a great selling point!
Anyway, it's an effective method of exercise. It more realistically replicates the action of walking up a hill, and is less boring and jerky feeling than a stairstepper. A lot of people cheat on stairsteppers by holding onto the bars and transfering weight off their legs. The TreadClimber doesn't make it feel like you're working quite so hard, I guess. How's it work? Adjust the speed and incline and you're off to the races. I recommend either loud upbeat music (techno, rock, hip hop) or a TV otherwise you'll just get too bored. You don't get any fancy preset workout programs so if you want to do intervals you have to change the settings yourself. There are two big buttons for the speed and two for the incline. You can really easily customize the machine to provide an intensity level that works for you. The TC1000 is a sturdy machine, you won't have to worry about breakdowns (unless you're over 300 lbs). You can adjust the speed from 0.5 mph up to 3.8 mph. To further customize the intensity level there are 12 difficulty settings. The affect how difficult each step down is. So it's a good workout! I liked it.
It's not a bad looking piece of equipment. I don't recommend putting it in frequented rooms unless you don't have much extra space in your house (or apartment). It's very easy to use, it doesn't take any fancy programming or anything. It's user-friendly, you can't really mess up the only three funtions that are possible. They all display at once in little black digital displays. The higher models have more options and a much nicer interface, so those might take a sec to learn. But you'll get it in a hot minute and be ready to rock ya body, body!

Secondary Products: If you purchase through www.treadclimber.com you'll notice the other products that Nautilus attempts to offer. Such as a heart rate monitor, machine mat, supplements, and books. I don't know how good their supplement products are, so I can't say I recommend them. I would stick to EAS, it's a great company that publishes Muscle Media magazine, and they produce the best products on the market. I would go with Nike or some other company for a good heart rate monitor.
Final Say:
The TC1000 is a large and very heavy machine. It measures 46" L x 28" W x 55" H and weighs a surprising 185 lbs! Heck, if you get bored walking on it just move it from one side of the room to the other and repeat a few times, you'll get a great workout! The TC1000 can accomodate users that weight up to 300 lbs, so most people should be good to go.
Personally, I prefer to workout outside (run, walk, hike, bike, etc.). I like to experience the weather, terrain, and sights of the area around me. Working out indoors is much less motivating to me. But it's often necessary during the winter months. But if you like machines, this could be a good one for ya.
The TreadClimber is comfortable to walk on. I wish the speed went higher on the TC1000, it does on higher models. For a machine in this price range it doesn't really offer many good features, specifically electronic functions. You can only track speed, time, and distance. And the display is really boring and archaic looking. Nautilus should have offered more or lowered the price.
It's a pricey piece of equipment, especially since it's only for aerobics. You should think long and hard before purchasing. However, it is a good piece of equipment and will really help you burn off some pounds. If you can shell out the dough and still afford good weight lifting equipment then go for it. But if you want one machine that will help you accomplish everything...then look elsewhere.
Might I suggest:
Bowflex Power Pro - Has Aerobic Function
Weider Crossbow - Has Aerobic Function
Precor EFX546 - Aerobics Only
Fitness Quest Total Gym 2000 - Aerobics & Weight Training
IMPORTANT: Always ensure you're following a good diet to maximize your results! And remember, health & fitness is a lifestyle...not a goal! It didn't take you only 4 weeks to pack on the weight, so don't expect it all off in that time frame! Patience young grasshopper...

I picked the TC1000 for my Rainy Day W/O submission because I love working out, it always makes me happy. Exercise (and music) are my releases.
W/O Info: I'm hosting the Rainy Day W/O. It rains a lot in the Northwest, so pick something you would do indoors that makes you happy (because it's a rainy day, you need to cheer up!) and it has to be a product review not an essay, story, or poem. The catch is that the length of your review may not exceed 1,111 words. Visit my profile page or the following link for info on how you can join in the Rainy Day W/O.
