I just sat down to play this game last week after receiving it for Christmas. I was excited to rip open the game and see just how good it was. I was very surprised by the update that this game has received from the original.
Instead of a square board, the board is round with the spaces extended around the board instead of having some extra space as with the rectangular board. The cards came packaged in a set of 3 with only shrink-wrap over them. It also came with 1 plastic card holder that held approximately 75 cards and was triangular in shape.
The pie pieces and the holder are now clear and we all had a hard time determining the difference between brown and pink. Some of the categories were jumbled up a bit so we were constantly asking what category is green again. A new category called Wild Card is now Orange.
We had 4 players all playing independently. I thought alot of the questions dealt with the 20th century especially TV shows. Some of the questions were very simple while others were just impossible. I guess that makes the game interesting.
Some of the cards have pictures on the back with the question and answer on the reverse. The picture always corresponds with all the categories and I found that these were the easiest to answer since you had an idea or image of a person, city, event, etc.
We had a lot of fun with this version and spent about 2 hours playing it. I would definitely play it again and again.
I didn't like the clear pieces although there is a lip on them so they don't get stuck in the circle like with this original game. We've stuck many a knife in there to get those old wedges out. I also didn't like the card holder. It didn't hold many cards, was constantly passed around the table causing confusion as to which card was just used.
Other than that, this game is a winner.
