| Annie_Crane's Full Review: Tupperware Chopper Machine |
I dont buy a whole lot of Tupperware. Honestly it just doesnt fit in our budget. But sometimes, there is something in the catalog that every household should have. The Tupperware Chopper Machine is one of those items.
What so special about the Tupperware Chopper Machine? Ill give you a quick list for you to see.
Its simple
Its easy to use
Easy to clean
Easy to put together
Makes chopping fun
~~What is it made of~~ The Tupperware Chopper Machine is made of plastic and metal. The plunger is made of plastic, the portion that holds the metal blade is white plastic and the chamber where you chop is a clear plastic. There is, however, a rubber type seal that you put on the end of your chopper. I only use this when I am not using the chopper so a younger person in the house doesnt grab it and accidentally cut his self by plunging it down into their hand.
~~Assembly required~~ Although its only about six inches high, the Chopper still needs assembly. You must disassemble to wash then reassemble to use. How to assemble is basically a two step process that you can have done in a couple blinks. The top part of your unit, where your plunger is, is all one unit. It holds the metal blade. The metal blade looks like a switchback on a mountain slope. You take a cup like piece that has the exact shape of the metal blade cut into the bottom of it, and insert cup over the blade. Hold this in place while you take your clear plastic portion, place over cup that now covers metal blade, then twist to lock. Thats it. Your chopper is now assembled.
~~How does it work~~ This is the fun part. First you decide what food item you want to chop today. If it is an onion, you peel then quarter it. You then place your onion on a cutting board. Next you place your Tupperware Chopper Machine directly over the onion. While holding the Chopper, begin smacking down on the plunger. (I dont press down, I smack down) Smacking down on the plunger causes the blade to forcefully cut into the onion. Its not really necessary to smack it, I just like doing it. (Some amount of force is necessary though.)The pushing down on the plunger causes the metal blade to come out of the cup, then cut into the onion. When you pull your hand back up, the blade will automatically turn itself inside the cup and reposition for the next smack down. Depending on how fine you want your onion chopped, depends on how often you press the plunger.
~~Clean up~~ Clean up is as easy as pie. Well actually baking a homemade pie isnt easy, just eating to much of it is the easy part. So, clean up is as easy as eating to much homemade pie. Simple twist off the clear, plastic portion of the chopper, and take off the cup covering the metal blade. I dont put the top, where the plunger is, in water. I swish only the metal blade in hot, soapy water, then take my scrub brush and wash between the switchbacks of the blade. The rest of the unit I toss in the dishwasher.
~~Problems~~ Ive yet to experience any problems with my Tupperware Chopper Machine. It does create a lot of loud noise when you smack down on it the way I do. Thats because of the blade hitting the cutting board. Not because of anything wrong with the chopper.
~~Why is it fun?~~ Well, I cant explain why I like using the chopper so much. However, I can say that using the Tupperware Chopper Machine is a lot easier than using a knife to cut up onions. Its less dangerous than using that knife too. I suppose I enjoy using the chopper because of a stress release. Maybe with five kids, I feel the need to smack down on something other than them. *wink*
