Wow, where do I begin? Well, I've been battling acne for 3 years, and NOTHING has worked. I've used Biore, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Aveeno, Clearasil, even Mary Kay, but NOTHING works. That's when I finally discovered Acnefree, and boy was I glad I did!
I'll start off by telling you about the products.
I found it at Walmart for about $18. It's a 3-step system: Purifying Cleanser, Renewing Toner, and Repair Lotion.
Purifying Cleanser:
This is what the bottle states:
"This oil-free formula gently exfoliates dead skin cells and impurities to cleanse away dirt and remove oil that can clog pores. Prescription-quality Benzoyl Peroxide helps clear existing acne and helps prevent future breakouts.
Directions: Use morning and evening. Wet face, work product into a lather, massage onto face avoiding the eyes. Rinse well. May be used on face, chest or back."
I've found that it doesn't really lather at all. But, it does an EXCELLENT job of cleansing. My face feels very clean afterwards. It does stink a little bit though in the beginning, but after using it for a while you don't even notice. Just make sure you rinse well, because it tends to bleach towels.
Ok, now for the Renewing Toner.
Here's what the bottle states:
"This formula gently removes dead skin cells and excess surface oils to leave skin balanced and refreshed. Helps keep pores clean and fight bacteria to prevent future breakouts. Soothes and moisturizes, restoring skin to a normal pH balance.
Directions: Use morning and evening. After cleansing, apply to entire face with a cotton pad avoiding the eye area. Do not rinse. May be used on face, chest or back."
This is my favorite step. Since the cleanser dries skin a little bit, putting the toner on feels REALLY good.
Now for the Repairing Lotion.
Here's what the bottle states:
"Prescription quality, intensive medicated treatment for day and night use. Penetrates the pores to dry up blackheads and blemishes and clear existing acne. Non-irritating formula, safe for entire face. Our Time-Released Benzoyl Peroxide formula works 24 hours to keep you acne free!
Directions: Use morning and evening. After cleansing and toning, apply to entire face with a cotton pad avoiding the eye area. Do not rinse. May be used on face, chest or back."
I noticed that in other reviews people were complaining about weird beads. I never noticed anything annoying. Also, I don't apply this with a cotton pad. I just use my fingers. Using a cotton pad just wastes some of the product. Just rub in the lotion and you should have no problem whatsoever with "weird beads".
All in all, this is an excellent product. One thing about it, it caused extremely severe dryness and BAD flaking. It was getting so annoying that I was considering changing products. My face felt like sandpaper! But, I've eliminated the problem by using Curel Ultra Healing lotion. I recommend that to EVERYONE who uses this product. It's so amazing! It makes your skin very soft again, and it doesn't clog pores so you won't get breakouts from it. Also, since you have to wear a sunscreen while using Acnefree, I've been using Coppertone for Faces. That stuff is awesome. I apply it after cleansing, toning, repair lotion, curel, and then I put on the sunscreen. It doesn't clog pores and it smells good. That could just be me, though, as I love the smell of sunscreen. lol.
I've been using Acnefree for a month, and my skin is 99% clear. It looked really bad before.
Just don't expect it to work over-night, or even 3 days like the box said. You just have to have patience. It took a month before it cleared my skin up completely. I'm completely satisfied and I'm Acne free!
