| mollymom48's Full Review: Urban Rebounder |
I watched several infomercials before finally ordering my rebounder from the Canadian "TheShopping Channel". It did arrive very quickly but TSC is known for their fast shipping.
I then started to set it up. It was very hard to unfold/open. When I tried to set up the legs, two of them had the "pins" out of position, so I had to find a hammer and put them in place so that the legs would slide into position. I then started to put the "stability bar" into position. When I got to trying to match the right side of the balance handle to the balance bar, the pin/hole alignment was off by half an inch, and nothing I could do would put them in alignment and thus secure them.
I immediately wrote the urbanrebounder website with this issue and they claim they will be sending me another stability bar setup, however this same issue has been mentioned in other opinions on this site.
So, now we are set up and ready to try..right? I put on appropriate clothing T-shirt, sports bra and leggings) , as you are cautioned not to wear long pants that may get caught in the springs. FYI I am 5.8 and have size 10 feet.
I put on the beginner's workout. Immediately I found that my range of motion was extremely limited. I could not match the moves without hitting the springs/skirt/apron of the rebounder. Further, I was wearing my most absolutely firm/holding in place/don't let those babies bounce sports bra, and still had problems with "the girls" bouncing a bit too enthusiastically.
Almost from the beginning I had pain in my calves and feet, not to re-mention the bouncing "girls" problem. I work out five days a week, and I could not happily finish the beginner's workout. It claims it is for all ages and conditions, but I found it very hard on my frame, particularly knees and ankles and I have arthritis and fibro.
Further, during the set up part of the video it does admit that the rebounder may move 4 - 6 inches in any direction during a workout and you are not to be near any furniture etc. It also claims it is easy to fold and very portable as in.."take it anywhere". Well folded, it is huge, and that is after folding it in fear of your fingers/wrists and it weighs 30 pounds. I don't see carrying it "with me on business or vacation" as claimed in the website/commercials.
So...if you are a teensy thing with no boobs, a superwoman who finds 30 pounds nothing to carry about, have no hip or knee or ankle problems..this may be a great workout for you. For this woman...it is a waste of money, space and no way can I see taking it on vacation!
