| uffda6's Full Review: Vicks Sinex 12 Hour Ultra Fine Mist for Sinus Reli... |
I have suffered from allergies and stuffy nose for many years. With very little relief in the multiple prescriptions I have used. One of the worst parts is not being able to sleep due to the fact that I couldnt breathe through my nose. I used to go to sleep sucking on Halls menthol cough drops, just to keep my sinuses partially clear, but of course when the cough drop is gone so is the help. Not to mention how unhealthy that is for my teeth.
About 2 years ago in desperation I bought an over the counter nasal spray. Vicks Sinex 12 hour ultra fine mist nasal spray, I figures what can it hurt. Well I was pleasantly surprised. I actually slept for more than 2-3 hours, and when I woke up I could still breathe and had no sinus headache. I remember thinking wow could this stuff really be that good? Well I used it for about a week only at night because I could get by in the day time, but I really needed something when I would lie down. Well I could not believe that this little bottle of over the counter spray could be so great.
Vicks Sinex 12 hour ultra mist is simple to use. No head tilting required, just insert the nozzle into the nostril, and press the rim firmly. As you press down on the rim, simply inhale and instant relief that lasts 10-12 hours. Recommended dose is 2-3 sprays per nostril, every 12 hours. This product is recommended for ages 6 and up, and tell you for under 6 to consult physician.
It is also not recommended for use more than 3 days. Now I will admit that during my worst allergy season I use this every night. It does say that prolonged use may actually cause congestion, however I have never found this to be a problem I usually can use it for a week and then be good for a bit and then when I start to stuff up again I will use it again.
After telling my physician that I used this he did a thorough check of my sinuses, and stated that they actually looked good. He did give me a prescription to try that he thought would be better. I used rhinocort for about 1 month and could not stand the headaches, and facial swelling that came for me when using it. He then tried flonase which I will admit works well for a more long term relief of the allergy symptoms, however when that stuffiness hits I still use my Vicks Sinex spray.
Active Ingredients:
Oxymetazoline HCI 0.05% nasal decongestant
I like the flonase for the long term, but give me the Vicks for those flare ups.
