Budd Hopkins whose successful career as an Artist in New York, was slowly becoming dominated by his interest in abduction by the late eighties.
At the beginning of the books there is some controversy over hypnosis and if it's a reliable source of such stories.
The story started to unfold back in 1989, (published 1996), when the subject Linda Cortile had been abducted by aliens for the first time, or so she thought.
It all began with this letter:
"Dear Mr. Hopkins:
My partner and I are police officers. We have been in a serious dilemma because of our strict profession and our lack of knowledge on this subject. We did not know what to do, or who to turn to and hadn't done so until recently. We searched in bookstores and came up with your name so here goes;
One early morning, about three three-thirty a.m. in late November, 1989 we sat in our patrol car underneath the elevated FDR Drive South Street and Catherine Slip, observing the surroundings ahead. Sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle I reached into many shirt pocket for a stick of gum. As I opened it, I looked down at the silver wrapping and saw it reflecting a firelight type of reddish glow. I looked up through the windshield to see where it was coming from and there it was-a strange oval hovering above an apartment building two to three blocks away. We don't know where it came from.
Its lights turned from bright reddish to orange to very bright whitish blue, coming out of the bottom of it. It moved out away from the building and lowered itself to an apartment window just below. I yelled for my partner who was sitting beside me, behind the wheel of the patrol car, and he was just as excited as I was. I had to be sure of what I was seeing so I went into the glove compartment and took out a pair of binoculars.
We grabbed hold of each other and were going to get out of the car but, what were we going to do for that little girl or woman in a white nightgown? She was floating in midair in a bright beam of whitish blur light, looking like an angel."
He later goes on to say:
"Mr. Hopkins the oval never came up from under the river. Its possible that it could have after we drove away about 45 minutes later.
We feel very guilty and have been debating for fourteen months if we should seek her out. "
Mr. Hopkins gets a letter from Linda Cortile.
"Dear Mr. Hopkins:
First off: I want to say that I have never seen a UFO of any kind. I am a 41 year old wife and mother. I came across your book Intruders sometime last year on a shopping trip. I read only portions of it then I had to put it down. I felt overwhelmed with the fear. "
Budd writes: "She goes on to relate seeing a shrouded hooded person, and becoming paralyzed. She relates how this has happened for the last five or so years. Ultimately she comes in to be hypnotized.
I write:
Under hypnosis Linda’s harrowing story begins.
The two police offers play a major part. There were things revealed they didn’t know happened to them. Their three lives become a tangled web of childhood memories.
Linda gets abducted by them at one point, by one of them, and is taken to a beach house out on Montauk Long Island.
I read this book so fast I saw *sparks* flying off the pages. It was a great read.
The account also reveals testimony from third-party individuals who witnessed the abduction, including a major world leader who oversaw the events. If you want to read about abductions this is the one to read.
Also revealed later that it was also witnessed by two secret service men who were escorting among others, and not mentioned in the book but I found out, was Javier Perez de Cuellar, then secretary-general of the United Nations. He denies it to this day.
He is in the book as an older man character who has ties to Linda and her children.
UPDATE: This past summer 2003 I met Budd Hopkins while attending a seminar on Alien Abductions and the scientific proof of it. I asked how it was going with Linda and he said, she is right here ask her.
So I looked over and there she was, Linda Cortile in the flesh. I gave her a big hug, and said i loved your story then I said, well, you know hat i mean, she was nice. She asked me out to coffee one day since we both live not far from one another. I asked her how it was going? She said it is ongoing. In other words she is still being abducted. I asked Budd about it, and he said there will be another book about it coming out.
I suggest reading this book if you never read a book on Alien Abduction before.
After reading this book I was compelled to read many more mind opening books on Alien History. Another I suggest is Nobel prize winner Zacharia Sitchen on The Cosmic Code Book, VI - /Anunnaki/Aliens.
