When you are stuck at level sixty with no where to go except to sit in one of World of Warcrafts major cities for example, Ironforge or Orgrimmar trying to look cool on your epic mount the upgrade Burning Crusade was a welcome relief!
Installation of the original World of WarCraft is required before the upgrade can be installed. If you do not have the original version installed, install it and download all of the patches before attempting to install Burning Crusade.
In addition, if you do have the original World of WarCraft installed I highly recommend removing the interface file before attempting to install Burning Crusade. It will save you a lot of headaches if you do. When you log in to the game a clean interface file will replace the old one that had all the cluttered add-ons. When you get everything installed you can go back to your favorite add-on websites and look for updated files to download. Please be careful however, some people who seem to like to take advantage of people are incorporating into these add-ons nasty things to steal your password to gain access to your account. Please be careful.
One other suggestion is to clean and defrag your computer before installing either version. A clean installation can alleviate many problems.
The recommended minimum requirements for installation of Burning Crusade is Windows 2000/XP Intell Pentium III 800 mtz , 512 MB of RAM and a 32 MB 30 graphics processor with hardware transform and lighting, recommendation from Blizzard is a NVDIA GeForce.
I personally suggest a system with a whole lot more power. I tried using my old Dimension 8200 we upgraded the RAM to one gig and added a better graphics card but to no avail we still had major lag. A decision was made to purchase two new computers.
A Dell Dimension E520, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz, 1066FSB) with 2MB cache, 2 gigs of RAM and a 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro. No lag I use to blame Blizzard for the lag, no it was lack of power. We now have plenty of power. Look for the forthcoming review of our new Dell Dimension!
Our new computers will have Window's Vista. I have contacted Blizzard's support and they have assured me that Burning Crusade will support Vista.
Blizzard outdid them selves in the creation of Burning Crusade! The theatrics are sensational. The graphics are beautiful. In each world I will look up to the sky to look at the colors or multiple planets, just log in to Burning Crusade to get an idea of the beauty. The musical scores are magnificent. For a glimpse of all of this go to World of WarCraft Burning Crusade website go to interactive preview and then launch the Burning Crusade flash site sit back and enjoy!
As with any massive Online game that covers many countries there is bound to be a few glitches. Maybe you will find a quest that doesnt work. Tuesday is the day Blizzard sometimes brings the site down for upgrades or hot fixes. Just today a quest fix was included with a short download.
After you install the game it is time to head to the Outlands! The two opposing factions the horde and the alliance both start at the Dark Portal but there are two different methods of getting to the portal. The horde will have to walk or fly (I prefer flying much quicker!) to Stonard in the Swamp of Sorrows then mount up and ride to the Blasted Lands. The Alliance can fly in closer to the portal going to Nethergarde Keep in the Blasted Lands, head south to the portal entrance. Near the portal is a quest that must be picked up before you are allowed to enter the Dark Portal.
As you walk through the portal looking out into the distance there will most likely be one or multiple elite monsters. You dont need to fret about them. Looking to the right and left are flight paths to get you to your factions first hold to begin training and questing.
Everything seems very expensive for example training dont worry too much, the quests, vendor trash, and drops bring in quite of bit of gold which is the currency of Burning Crusade. In addition, you can build your gold supply by using your profession, leather making, blacksmithing, tailoring, alchemy, enchanting, engineering, and the newest profession added when Burning Crusade launched Jewel Crafting.
Along with the original races of troll, undead, human, dwarves, gnomes, night elves, orcs and taurens, two new races were introduced to Burning Crusade the draenei and blood elves. Draenei are of the faction alliance and the blood elves horde.
If you were and were is the word here, epic when entering Burning Crusade meaning purple the finest armor available you will now find that the common green is better than the previous epic armor and weapons. The middle category, blue or uncommon is where I have worked myself back up to. The armor makes a world of difference both in fighting monsters and mobs and in PVP or player verses player. Both armor and weapons can be enhanced by enchanters, or leatherworkers in various armor kits. I am a leather worker which enhances my class of druid which wears leather armor. I can make various kits such as Clefthide leg armor that increases my leg armor by thirty - stamina and ten - agility. Stamina increases health and agility increases critical strike chance, attack power and armor. Jewel crafters can make jewels to enhance armor and weapons with their crafted jewels.
Besides the beauty and the awe of the immensity of the creation of an Online game of this magnitude one of the features I like best about Burning Crusade is the number of quests they seem never ending. They are varied and fun. Some quests are much harder than others. The harder quests meant for a group of people to fight multiple mobs or elites ask a buddy to help. There are guilds that you can join or keep track of whom you have quested with before on your friends list.
Customer server, for those that know me that is one of the things that bugs me most is companies with lousy customer service. I have never had a bad experience as of date with Blizzards customer service team. If I have an in game issue and contact a Game Master who can be accessed by the question mark on the bottom of the tool bar. You submit a ticket and a Game Master will get back to you and it usually doesnt take a very long time. On occasion the game has been busy, especially after the release of Burning Crusade the wait could be a bit longer. They will normally be very helpful with your problem. The only time I have heard anything bad is when a friend had his account accessed by someone stealing his password via a purchasing gold site, or add-on site. The thief stealing everything he had, as of date Blizzard had still not returned his stuff. However, it was the player who had taken the chance in the first place and as far as I am concerned it is very nice of Blizzard to even deal with these issues. So what if you have to wait a while. Blizzard has a horde, no pun intended, of safety features. However, as long as there are thieves there will be an occasional problem.
With the upgrade to Burning Crusade you can go from level 60 to level 70. You must be a level 58 to enter the portal, though Burning Crusade includes so much more than just the new Outland area it is worth it for any level to own the game. The Outlands include flying mounts. The first one I saw I just set there in place watching the player fly off into the distance to perhaps one of the seven new peninsulas in the Outlands or to an instance; only he or she knew where they were going. However, I know what I am going to do now, log on to World of WarCraft Burning Crusade and see how much gold I made at the Auction House last night, then hop on my mount and finish a quest I started yesterday. When I finish the quest I will have a choice between three weapons, and will also receive 8 gold 70 silver, not bad for one quest! For $39, a broadband Internet connection, and $41.97 for three months of play (you can also pay monthly) it is worth every penny!
