Pros: Great location, clean, and comfortable.
Cons: Expensive and shabby. Staff can be uncaring and flippant.
The Bottom Line: There are better places to stay in Tel Aviv that offer better accommodations at cheaper prices. Find them!

| wvhokie55's Full Review: Yamit Park Plaza |
I stayed at the Park Plaza Yamit in September 2007 during Rosh Hashanah. I had decided to stay there because I had heard bad things about the hostel where I had originally planned to stay. I booked my reservation through Orbitz.
Location
The hotel is located right next door to the U.S. Embassy on HaYarkon street, so it's very close to the beach. You can walk to most of the major attractions in Tel-Aviv within about 30 minutes or so.
Accommodations
My room was a tad shabby, especially for $140 a night in the off-season. The carpet looked like it needed to be replaced and the curtains were probably 10 years old. Half the lights in the room were burned out. The bathroom was okay, though the floor wasn't graded properly, so water tended to puddle in front of the sink when I took a shower.
The room included a mini-fridge, TV, and phone. The bed was extremely comfortable and the climate control worked great.
Amenities
Like I said, it's right on the beach and close to everything. You can also work out at the gym next door. Breakfast is an extra $15 or so, which seemed a little steep to me considering that there aren't many places to sit and the food is so-so. There's a bar in the lobby. They also have secure luggage storage.
Staff
Here's where the problems occurred. My initial encounters with the staff went very well - they all spoke excellent English and were very helpful.
On the last day of my visit (a Friday), I had asked if it would be a problem for them to call me a taxi for the airport. They said that should be fine. I reminded them later in the day, and again, they said no problem. They called the taxi company and reserved one for 6:30. Well, 6:45 came around, and there was no taxi. I asked the lady at the desk what was going on, and she said "Oh well, I guess because of the holiday, all the taxis are busy. Sorry. Maybe you can hail one on the street."
I was livid, but I basically had to do just that. After 10 minutes of jumping up and down on the street, I finally managed to find a cab driver who was willing to take me (most of the others refused). I made it to the airport in time, but was completely stressed out (which causes problems when you go through Israeli security checks).
I would've had a nice stay at the Park Plaza Yamit had it not been for that. I'm willing to overlook everything else, but the taxi thing was pretty bad.
