| tchoate's Full Review: Kodak EasyShare DX3700 Digital Camera |
I had been researching digital cameras for about 3 months before making my purchase. I have to say that I am very happy with the camera that I decided to purchase. The Kodak DX3700 Digital Camera has been everything that I expected when I purchased it. I am very pleased with the clarity of the pictures, the ease with which I was able to use this camera and have even been happy with the software provided for downloading and editing my pictures.
The Kodak DX3700 Digital Camera
When purchasing the Kodak DX3700 Digital Camera the following items will be included, the camera, Lithium battery, wrist strap, USB cable, lens cap, video cable, dock insert(this item will be very important if you purchase the camera dock. The user’s guide which I must say is very easy to read and understand will walk you step by step through getting your camera ready to take that first picture.
The book also goes into detail about which settings to use for taking pictures for certain size prints. The Best setting will give you 2160 x 1440 sensor resolution with a recommended print size of up to 11X14; the Better setting 2160x 1440 sensor resolution with a recommended print size again of 11 x 14, the Good setting is 1088 x 720 sensor resolution and is recommended for pictures up to 4 x6 in size.
Before making your decision to purchase this camera you need to make sure that your computer has Windows 98, Windows 2000, ME or Windows XP (which is the operating system I use and it works great). You will need 32 MB Ram, CD Rom Drive, unoccupied USB port, 16 bit or higher color monitor. I need to mention that this camera will also work with a PC-based Macintosh computer.

My Thoughts
I have had this camera for about a month now and have taken many pictures in all different lighting situations, each time I have been pleased with the pictures. I am very pleased with the LCD Screen as I can see the picture right away and am given the choice of keeping the picture of deleting it. This has been wonderful as I know right away whether I should take another picture or not. The flash seems to work well in low light and the pictures I have taken outside I haven’t had any glare problems at all. I previously owned a Kodak Camera with no removable storage space and wanted to make sure that this time I had an expansion slot that I could use when taking a lot of pictures, we purchased a 32MB card when we purchased the camera and noticed that with the card using the better setting we could take up to 100 pictures. I have not come near that point before I have been able to download them on my computer, but this would be nice on vacation when I probably wouldn’t be near my computer to download each time I take pictures. To me the expansion slot is well worth having so that you will have plenty of room for your pictures.
The pictures that we have taken have been extremely clear. The Kodak Picture Software that comes with the camera is easy to load on your computer and even easier to understand. I didn’t purchase the camera dock with my camera, but it came with a USB cable to download pictures onto my computer. When I plug the camera into the cable the software automatically pops up on the computer screen and asks if you are ready to transfer pictures. It is very easy to use and comes with editing tools and software for making a memory book. I haven’t yet started the memory book, but the software seems very easy to understand. You get to pick the paper you wish to use, along with the setup for each page. The software also gives you the options to email, print, put effects on the pictures, remove red eye along with many other features.
My camera came with a battery included and I haven’t purchased another one yet, but am sure that the time will be here soon as I begin to use my camera more and more. The button to turn the camera on is small and has been the most frustrating part of this camera there is a light that comes on when the camera is turned on. It is just hard to know if you have depressed the button as it is so small. This camera also comes with automatic shut off; it will shut off after 15 minutes if you don’t use it. I really like this feature as I always forget to turn my camera off.
Final Thoughts
I have been very happy so far with the Kodak DX3700 Digital Camera. I have found the camera and the software easy to use and have been extremely happy with the quality of the pictures. My next purchase will be the dock and I would suggest anyone who buys this camera go ahead and purchase the dock when buying the camera, I do wish I had. If you are looking for an easy to use digital camera, that takes great pictures and comes with easy to use software then look no further than the Kodak DX3700 Digital Camera.
