| kathybrj's Full Review: 2000 Fleetwood Coleman Grand Tour |
We traded a 2002 Coleman Sedona for the Utah. This is THE camper we wanted- 12' box plus front storage trunk and glide out dinette. It also has 2 queen sized beds, a convertible dinette table and a convertible gaucho couch.
I can't say enough great things about this camper. Yes, it's heavy (full tubular construction, unlike any other manufacturer), yes, it's long, yes, it has the ABS roof, which makes it one of the best looking campers on the market and NO- we have not had any problem with it, nor have we ever talked to another Coleman owner that has had any problem with their ABS roof. Personally, I think the problems with the ABS roof have been greatly exaggerated. But, as of 2003, it's a moot point- Coleman has gone to an aluminum roof for all of their campers. I'm glad I bought mine last year!
We do use a weight distribution hitch for this unit. Our tow vehicle has a short wheel base. We have experienced sway once, when a 30+ mph wind hit us cross way. All we had to do was touch the brake controller and the unit snapped back into line.
Our Utah has a 3 way refrigerator, furnace, awning and an add a room. We were also given the Decor pack, including full sheet sets, a slumber pack, a camper caddie and a vanity mate, electric brakes, back saver bed ends, Sunbrella tenting. No leaks, even in torrential rains during a trip in July.
The slide out dinette is the best part. We can fit it into tight camping sites, unlike some other brands that slide out farther. I really can't see a reason to have more room to the side. We have cooked and eaten in the camper with no problem as far as room goes for our family of four plus a dog. The storage capacity is incredible. I still have two cabinets half empty.
The camper comes with a cable outlet and a 12 volt outlet. It also has several electric outlets. It has a 20 gallon, under the floor water tank, a porcelain sink, an interior stove, an exterior stove and the stepper door.
We will stick to Colemans because we feel, overall, that the build is superior to any other brand on the market. Our dealer is wonderful and knowledgeable. Coleman is very receptive to customer feedback and technical questions and are always very prompt with responses to questions/comments.
Update: 12/03- We had a great season with this camper. 10 trips and all of them wonderful, except for the rain! We've added an add-a-room and use it every trip- highly recommended- increases out "living space" and is a great place to hang out in the morning or on a rainy day. Roof is still great.
My sister purchased a 2003.5 Coleman Cheyanne, with the new Alumitite roof. It's a great looking roof and she loves the side awning (opposite side of the awning) and the roof racks.
