I love my Dakota! The biggest beef I have is the lack of a standard positive traction rear end with the V8. A posi would have done more for the power of tha V8 than an open rear. Having come up with muscle cars, the V8 was a must, but it still lacked something. I didn't realize, until I did a little digging the it had an open rear end. A guy I work with has a 99 and installed a posi, and said it made a world of difference in the traction and handling. The only other thing that I found was the the New Process 3500 doesn't shift as good as most of the manual transmissions that I've driven. This was my first vehicle with a hydraulic clutch system. It's unadjustible. If they would engineer some adjustment into the clutch system I'm sure I could get it perfect. Overall, though it is a great truck! I've surprised more than a couple unsuspecting pony cars. It handles better than some of the cars that I've driven, whether it be around town or the country back roads that I take to work. I'm thoroughly impressed with the entire package. The aforementioned short comings are really more to personal preference than they are a down side to the truck. I would definitely buy another, but would be sure to better select my options!
