| sweetsue_98's Full Review: Airborne Second Day |
Airborne Express has given me fits over the years, and fortunately I normally receive my packages by UPS. However, Airborne 2nd day, may not be what you think you are getting, or paid for.
Recently I placed a catalog order, and when I was told that my package would be shipped Airborne, that was fine. Where we are currently living, the Airborne courier arrives at a decent time in the morning.
I contacted the company where I had placed my order to get a tracking number. After receiving that number, I went in to track it, and there was little information. First it told where it was shipped from and the pick up date, and then my address. There was no tracking information. I put the zip code of where it was coming from, and the destination, and it told me it would have arrived in the two day service. However, after contacting Airborne, they could give me no tracking information.
So what is the issue? Two days, no package=one unhappy customer, right? Yes, but what they do not tell you is that they have a 2nd day service called airborne@home. That sounds nice, except the catch is an interesting twist. They do not bring your package to your home, instead they drop it off at the post office. What???? That's right. All airborne@home packages are delivered to the post office, and then the mail man delivers them. Well, that ceases to be 2nd day service.
To more complicate the matter, we live in a neighborhood that has all the mail boxes in a cluster. There are no boxes for large packages. The post office puts a notice for you in your box to come down and pick up your package. This adds an additional two days to the original two day service. The 2nd day is now at least a 4 day delivery.
Just a little heads up to all of you consumers out there, make sure that you do not have airborne@home, because it is not a two day delivery, and the package cannot be tracked. Gee, and people gripe about Priority Mail!!
