I have used creative sound cards since they first came into being. When I upgraded to the SBLive in 1997, I was very impressed. A couple of months ago I was considering an upgrade to my system and realized that I had not done the sound since then.
That is when I purchased this amazing product. The installation is quite easy if you are experienced in installing computer hardware. The card plugs in easily as does the extension slot for your plugin to the EX Device. You get a huge 6 feet of extension cable that plugs into the EX device. This device has Optical in and out, SPDIF in and out, headphone input with volume, microphone input with volume, an ir receiver for the handy little remote midi in and out through 2 MiniDIN plugs and a firewire plug in. It has true 24bit/192khz audio resolution.
The software that comes with the card is very impressive. It has the tools that most people would need to create their own music. Including the Creative Play Center 3. If you are a gamer, then you will truly enjoy the features of the Enhanced EAX HD audio. If your character for example is walking through a long stone corridor, you hear your footsteps echoing off of the walls and in the distance you hear water dripping. It is comparable to full surround sound theater where the sound is all around you.
In closing, I would highly recommend this product. I am very happy that I bought it.
