One look at the Sony Slimtop series and you'll be impressed by its beauty. That's the main reason I bought the PCV-L620 slimtop computer. The design is very neat and the small package it comes in is very attractive to those looking for a cross between a notebook and a desktop computer. Well, it's actually a desktop but has very small real estate.
The PCV-L620 features:
500MHz Pentium III processor
13.0 GigaByte hard disk
128MB PC-100 SDRAM expandable to 256MB
8MB Video RAM
4.8X DVD-ROM / 24X CD-ROM
digital 14.1 LCD display with built-in speakers
keyboard with programmable keys
mouse that is daisy-chained to the keyboard for a neat wiring
Floppy disk drive
56k modem
2 i.LINK (IEEE 1394) ports (one in front one at the back)
2 USB ports (one in front and one at the back)
memory stick slot that works with Sony Digital Video Cameras
PCMCIA card slot
one serial and one parallel connectors
Bundled software are:
Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 99
Microsoft Money 99
Microsoft Outlook 98
Microsoft Word 97
Microsoft Works 4.5
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 3.0
Adobe Premier 5.1 Limited Ed.

I've been enjoying this PC since day one. The only problem I have is the LCD monitor. OK, here's the story...the 1st slimtop I got has a group of pixels always ON. Took it back to store for a replacement but the replacement has the same problem albeit on a different location. The 2nd monitor is actually worse as there are now two groups of pixels always ON. This problem is not easily detectable until the screen is black like in DOS or when playing DVD and the dead pixels are in the letterbox. Dead is probably a misnomer as these problem pixels are always ON. Having paid full price, it just seems hard to swallow that one gets a bad monitor. I emailed Sony but then I was referred further to his supervisor for my questions. Haven't talked to the supervisor yet.
Anyway, for those buying this PC take note that the monitor you will be getting may have a problem. It's not a show-stopper though. Still, I recommend this PC but caution you of the LCD problem.
