How I bought It
I bought this modem for 120 dollars at CompUSA since a lightning storm blew out my old Best Data modem.
Installing It
Since I currently have AOL 6.0, AOL recognized the modem info in about 45 seconds and I was ready to go.
Using It
The Fax feature is good but I did not make use of it because I already have a fax machine. I liked having the compatibility of the X2 standard because many numbers in my area support it. I found that connection speed improved from 37333 bps to 40000 bps range. That was a plus. It is good that it has an adjustable sound knob on the actual modem.
What I Don't Like About It
I liked this modem, but for the price, this deal did not really strike me. All I need was a modem that could carry me over till I get my broadband connection. If you want to buy a from a reputable company this is one.
Who should buy it?
If you want to make sure that you have a reliable modem and you will not have broadband access for a long time, this is the modem to get as it will last you a long time. For people just waiting to get broadband and recommend getting a Bestdata external modem for 70 or 80 bucks. I had one before this and it served me almost as well.
