| pulsar1990's Full Review: Genius Net Pro (GM9168066) Mouse |
This mouse is a great cheap mouse. I got mine free at the opening of a MicroCenter in my neighborhood. My old mouse came with my 486 some years ago and was serial. I was hoping to upgrade to a PS-2 mouse because I had just built a new computer with PS-2. Last year when I bought my Microsoft Intelipoint Optical my Genius NetMouse Pro came to work to replace the basic mouse my employer supplied me. I have received several comments from people who have used it that they like it.
This mouse is a good size and shape with a nice feel to it. It has a scroll button in the middle. It does not get out of control like my Microsoft Intelipoint Optical can if you roll it too much. I know some more expensive mice have an actual wheel but this works also.
The side button is also useful. If you click it you get a cursor that lets you scroll up, down, left, and right with the mouse depending on which scroll bars you have. If you hold down the button it will let you cycle through your open applications with the scroll button. This is just like “alt-tab” but without taking your hands off of the mouse.
After two years using this mouse I have a hard time using a non-scroll mouse. Sure I like my Intelipoint Optical at home but for work this is a fine cheap replacement. If you have a scroll mouse at home and find yourself trying to scroll on your lousy work mouse this is a worthy investment of less than one hours pay. It has held up well and I don’t expect it to die any time soon. Even if I had paid for it I would still have been happy with it.
