I've had my Intellimouse for about 2 years now and it's still as reliable/accurate as it was the day I bought it. It was difficult paying $60 for a mouse mainly because it looked cool. This is one of the best $60 I have spent on my computer.
I don't use a mousepad; just move it on the desk. The Optical Intellimouse works on nearly any flat surface. I don't miss having to clean a ball! There's nothing to maintain on the Intellimouse, no moving parts (except for the buttons).
As a freelance web designer, this mouse is awesome for image creation. No more 'jumps' when drawing lines - just long, smooth continuations without worrying about the mouse ball jittering.
