When I was deciding on what notebook I was going to buy I had some crazy thoughts in mind:
-I'll need a powerful machine to do quality presentation on my meetings
-I'll need a machine that will have a nice screen so I can work my spreadsheets at home
-I need a FULL machine, with everything bundled on it. From floppies to DVD, so I never regret when I need something on the go.
Actually, I am not disappointed with my thought number 2, because it's really nice being able to work with a decent screen.
On the other hand, decisions 1 & 3 caused a lot of suffering, because even though my presentations are really nice, I did about 10 of them last year and none of them used DVD or some extra high tech stuff.
Most of my time I spent with my notebook I spent travelling and walking around and I really regret not having bought something lighter. Nowadays nobody needs a floppy disk, anyway. And... why do I need a DVD player for.... I never used it.
Well, If you are looking for an equipment that you'll need to carry around, this is not the machine for you. But if you are planning to buy a machine "desktop like" that you might take home/work sometimes, you'll like this one. It has everything a desktop should have and you are still able to take it anywhere you want, but it's heavy.
I've been using it daily for almost a year and I have no complaints about technical problems. Good network connection. Great modem. I also use the mouse "touch pad" as easily as a mouse. Good sound.
Oh, it has one extra neat stuff. You don't need to turn on your notebook to listen to your cd's. A cd player is cheaper, though. And lighter!
For me I would go for a lighter machine, because my back complains a lot at the end of the day after going to two or three meeting carrying this "jumbo guy".
