| 3rdpower's Full Review: Lenovo ThinkPad 600 X (6005FUK) PC Notebook |
IBM Thinkpads are NOT inexpensive. As a seller and a user of this particular product line I have a lot of experience with it. My step father purchased the Thinkpad 600X from me as a replacement to his Sony VAIO 505TX a few months back. The price at the time was great and I had a lot of confidence in the IBM product line so it was a no brainer. Out of the box the first thing you notice about this product is its ruggedness. This is not a cheap box. It has a rather interesting feeling rubberized casing that seems to provide protection from scratching as well as a durable feel. The unit is not the lightest but is the a very well equiped lighter weight notebook. The screen vividness jumps out at you right out of the box. XGA resolution is great and the colors are very eye pleasing! I was really suprised that there wasn't a high count on diod burn out on the TFT - this seems to be a constant problem. I counted just a single diod burnout on the screen - not bad at all in my opinion. The control of the touchpoint system is unrivaled in my opinion. I don't really like touchpad systems due to the accidental touching problems. The keyboard is extremely comfortable with true RAISED keys which make it a more enjoyable experience over it's sony competition. The sound is superb as well with nice placed speakers. Another strong point is the smart placing of ports. Everything is easy to get to.
Since we had this unit we have had only one problem and that was with the touchpoint pointer. It often sways without actually touching it. This has been a problem that has followed a lot of my notebooks so it wasn't too suprising. We also had a problem with the hard drive that I could not fix so it was sent back to IBM where they immediately replaced and repaired the product quickly and painlessly. The IBM service is incomparable. I would compare it to Nordstrom's customer service in the retail industry.
Almost no complaints on this box.. great buy.
