Pros: sleek form factor and weight, enough processor power for most tasks, multimedia-friendly, nice software bundle
Cons: keyboard takes getting used to, only one PCMCIA slot
The Bottom Line: I would purchase a SR-series laptop again. A joy for presentations and good for working while travelling. Particularly great with other Sony imaging products that also use the memory stick.

| pcalarco's Full Review: Sony VAIO SR7K PC Notebook |
The negative reviews have focused on the lack of provided peripherals that come with this unit. I shopped around, and found the SR7K for about $1600 in November 2000, which was a tremendous deal over the Dell and IBM portables my colleagues had purchased. I have travelled around with my Sony to conferences probably a dozen times since last November, and it has always been great. The IEEE 1394 port has been great for adding peripherals (purchased a Firewire Sony CD-RW), and I've also since purchased a Sony Cybershot DSC-S85 4.1 megapixel digital camera with a 128MB memory stick, which works well in tandem with the laptop. I have also since expanded the memory to 192MB. Memory prices for this were initially expensive, but now a 128MB SODIMM can be had for about $100 (http://www.crucial.com/).
