Pros: High quality prints. Easy to install and use. Reasonably priced.
Cons: Difficult to find supplies. Supplies are expensive (like all dye sublimation supplies).
The Bottom Line: If you want occasional real photo quality long-lasting prints of modest size and are not bothered by the relatively high cost of materials, the Acer FotoPrisa 300P is perfect.

| tgaf's Full Review: Acer FotoPrisa 300P Dye Sublimation Printer |
I bought the printer on a lark because it was so cheap at the uBid auction site ($50 NEW). It turned out to be a real winner, comparable in quality to a friend's Sony dye sublimation printer. It installed easily and works perfectly, with NO problems of any sort. The manual that comes with the printer is a clear and thorough and even has an excellent mini-course of digital imaging, resolution, etc. The Ulead software supplied is adequate for the task, but I found that the machine works fine with other picture programs; I prefer MicroSoft Picture It! The print quality is excellent. It is actually more true to what I see on my monitor than my inkjet printer is. It has excellent color fidelity, detail and text quality. It is a perfect compliment to my Kodak digital camera. The prints are reputedly as fade-proof as real photo prints. My main complaint about the machine is the cost of supplies--$20 for a pack of 25 sheets of 4x6 photo paper and ribbon. In reality the prints are expensive, but not as expensive as it seems at first glance. Stop to consider how few prints from a roll of film from a real camera are perfect. With this printer each and every print is top quality. My other complaint is that supplies are hard to find. I found 2 mail order places that list the paper/ribbon package (no discounts) but were out of stock. I purchased it from Acer directly. Given the expense of the supplies, I use the machine infrequently, mainly for high quality long-lasting prints that I want to send to friends. It is highly recommended. If you have trouble finding one, Acer sells them at its website for about $100.
